The Red Cross Book
All credits go to Philip Wester, webmaster of the Shinseiki Evangerion Shrine. Please do not use this document without my permission, and if so, do not change anything, except for formatting purposes. This is not the Red Cross Book, but it's pretty similar. I've written down special words of Eva and translated them from Latin to English and from Japanese to English and also from English to Japanese. I've also written down some facts about each item. For the moment, there's not much in the dictionary/vocabulary, I'll try to expand it gradually.

[Angels]
English name: Angels [A-nge-ls]

Japanese name: Shito [Shi-to(u)]
Translation: Messengers

Extra: "Angel" originally means "Messenger"
Miscellanuos: "Angels" is the official English name of the giant humanoid creatures that come to Earth in 2000-2015 to test Humankind. It's foretold about them in the Dead Sea Scrolls (found in Israel in 1947). The Angels are seventeen tests for Humankind to handle, each one harder than the last. The translation is not literal since Shito means Messenger. But the word "Angel" originally means "Messenger".

[Dead Sea Scrolls]

Japanese name: Ura Shikai Bunsho [U-ra Shi-kai Bun-sho]
Translation: I don't know what this means
Miscellanuos: The Dead Sea scrolls were found in Israfel in 1947. It held the Testaments of the Bibles, their Acryophaeas and also a foretelling about the Angels, the 17 tests that Mankind would have to stand. Each one would be harder than the next and if Mankind survived them all, they would reach a higher stage of existence.

[Eva Unit 00]
English name: Eva Unit 00 [E-va U-nit Ze-ro]
"Japanization": Eva Unitu Zero [E-va U-nit-u Ze-e-ro]
Japanese name: Eva Zerogoki [E-va Ze-e-ro-go(u)-ki]
Translation: Eva Mark/Eva Model/MK 0.
First appearance: Episode 1
Extra: The Eva had the color blue and had only one eye (cyclop)
Miscellanuos: This was the first Eva ever to be completed. It is also a test protoype. In the Eva Graveyard, thousands of Eva skeletons rest, all very similar to Eva Unit 00's first stage. The beta version of this Eva was created by Naoko Akagi, but her daughter, Ritsuko Akagi, was the one to complete the Eva, after Naoko's suicide. However, Naoko's soul was injected into the Eva's core. First, the Eva had the color yellow, Japan's military's color of prototypes, but then, after the its reconstruction after the battle against Ramiel, the Eva got the color blue. The pilot of Eva Unit 00 was the First Child, Rei Ayanami.
[Eva Unit 01]
English name: Eva Unit 01 [E-va U-nit Ze-ro One]
"Japanization": Eva Unitu Zero-one [E-va U-nit-u Ze-e-ro-oi-n(e)]
Japanese name: Eva Shogoki [E-va Sho-go(u)-ki]
Translation: Eva Mark 01/Eva Model 01/MK I
First appearance: Episode 1
Extra: This Eva was purple and had a horn (unicorn)
Miscellanuos: This was the second Eva to be completed. It was designed and built with the help of Gehrin. The main responsible were Yui, Ritsuko, Gendo and Fuyutski. This one was also a kind of test protype model. It had a purple color. In 2004, Yui entered an experiment. It was believed that it was an experiment involving Eva Unit 01, since it was the experiment that made Yui's soul enter the Eva's core. It was also believed that either Yui alone planed it all along or both Yui and Gendo planned it. Yui's soul seemed to be the strongest of all of the other Evas' since Eva Unit 01 had berserked/moved without power at many occasions, many more than the other Evas had. The pilot of this Eva was the Third Child, Shinji Ikari.
[Eva Unit 02]
English name: Eva Unit 02
"Japanization": Eva Unitu Zero-two [E-va U-nit-u Ze-e-ro-two(u)]
Japanese name: Eva Nigoki [E-va Ni-go(u)-ki]
Translation: Eva Mark 02/Eva Model 02/MK II.
First appearance: Episode 8
Extra: The Eva was as red as the color or blood and had four eyes
Miscellanuos: This was the third Eva to be completed. It has the color of red, the same as blood, and four eyes. It was built in Germany. That's also where the Second Child was found. But there are two Second Children. The first was Kyoko Zeppellin Sohryu, back when Eva Unit 02 still had no soul inside of its core. Kyoko's soul was absorbed by the Eva when she was the test pilot; that's why she went insane. A new pilot, Asuka Langley Sohryu, offspring of Kyoko Zeppellin Sohryu, was found. This was the new Second Child. Eva Unit 02 is also special, since it's the first Eva that was not a test protoype.
[Eva Unit 03]
English name: Eva Unit 03 [E-va U-nit Ze-ro Th-re-e]
"Japanization": Eva Unitu Zero-three [E-va U-ni-tu Ze-e-ro-th-r-lee]
Japanese name: Eva Sangoki [E-va San-go(u)-ki]
Translation: Eva Mark 03/Eva Model 03/MK III

Extra: The Eva had the color blue and remained silent
Miscellanuos: This was the third Eva to be completed. It had the color blue and remained silent. It was built in the US of A. It was transported to Japan, where it would be test piloted by the Fourth Child, Toji Suzuhara. Many believe the Eva had a soul, Toji's mother's. I think that is ridiculous. Toji was chosen as the Fourth Child completely on random and Eva Unit 03 arrived in a matter of days. It's unthinkable that NERV/SEELE could have got Shinji's mother's soul into the Eva by that time. Since the Eva had no soul, Bardiel, the Thirteenth Angel, could easially take it over. Eva Unit 03 berserked during the sync. test with Toji, blowing up Matsushiro, and was classified as the Thirteenth Angel due to Gendo Ikari's orders.
[Eva Unit 04]
English name: Eva Unit 04
"Japanization": Eva Unitu 04
Japanese name: Eva Yiongoki
Translation: Eva Mark 04/Eva Model 04/MK IV
First appearance: Death (the "True" versions)
Miscellanuos: Not much is known about this Eva. It was only shown in a short scene in Death (one of the "True" versions) and it can also be bought as a model kit. The Eva was almost identical to Eva Unit 03, except for it's color; gray. No pilot had been found for it before the entire Second Branch in German, which was currently keeping the Eva, disappeared in a mysterious explosion.
[Eva Series]
English name: Eva Series [E-va Se-r-(u)ies]
"Japanization": Eva Seeriesu [E-va Se-e-ri-i-su]
Japanese name: Eva Series
Translation: Eva Series
First appearance: The End Of Evangelion
Extra: The Eva Series was also called as the Eva Mass Production Series and the Eva Replicas
Miscellanuos: The Eva series consisted of nine white Evas, each having wings with eyes on. None of them had any soul of pilot. People claim that they must have had, since the AT-field is the walls of one's heart/the most inner sacred light of one's soul. But the Eva Series didn't have any AT-fields, now did they? The Eva Series had test S2 organs/engines. They also functioned thanks to the Kaworu Dummy Plug, a Dummy Plug made from out of Kaworu Nagisa's tissue, instead of pilots. Each one of the Evas also had a fake Lance Of Longinus, each one made from out of the DNA of the original Lance. But in the beginning of the battle against Eva Unit 02, the Lances were disguised as shields.

[Gaf's Room]
English name: Gaf's Room [Gaf-s Ro-o-m]
"Japanization": Gafusu No Roomu [Ga-fu-su Ro-o-mu]
Japanese name: Gabu No Heya
Translation: I don't know what Gabu No Heya means.
Miscellanuos: I don't think this is Christian mythology, but I think that it has a connection to one of the five great world religions. It's a word spoken by proffesor Fuyutski (Eoe - My Purest Heart For You) as well as Ritsuko (ep. 21). Fuyutski said that the door holds the key to the Beginning as well as the End of the world.

[Lance Of Longinus]
English name: Lance Of Longinus [Lan-ce Of Lo-ngi-nus]
"Japanization": Lansuru No Longinus [Lan-su-ru No Ro-n(g)i-nu-su]
Japanese name: Hokingsu Yari [Ho-kin(g)-su Ya-ri]
Translation: I don't know what Hokingsu Yari means.

Extra: The Lance has a Latin name, Lancea Longini
Miscellanuos: In the subtitled and dubbed versions of Eva, the object is called the LANCE of Longinus. But strangely enough, many call it the SPEAR Of Longinus. Even the Red Cross Book calls it the Spear Of Longinus. But it's the Lance. Also, Longinus was a Roman soldier. When Jesus was crucified, Longinus threw his lance at him and hit him in the chest. The Lance is today kept in a museum in Rumania (I think). Also, in Eva, the Lance was organic and had a life and mind of it's own. It's surface was also coated with a thin Anti At-field.

[Neon Genesis Evangelion]

Japanese name: Shinseki Evangerion [Shin-sei-ki E-va-n(g)e-rion]
Translation: New Century Happy Message/Death Age Happy Message [Shin= Death/new Seiki= Age/century]
Miscellanuos: Neon Genesis Evangelion is pure latin. Verbally translated, it means "New Created Happy Message". "Neon" means "New", "Genesis" means "Create/Creation" and Evangelion means "Happy Message". I don't know why, but many confuses the title of Eva as New Century Gospel (Shinseiki Evangerion). I've tried to tell people the real meaning of NGE, but they just won't listen. "Gospel" also has its origins from Evangelion, but it's not Evangelion, but Evangelio. Many languages, such as Spanish, has taken the word Evangelio as the word of "Gospel", but it's EVANGELIO that means Gospel, not EVANGELION.

[Stigmata]
English name: Stigmata [Stig-ma-ta]

Japanese name: Seikon [Sei-kon]
Translation: I don't know what Seikon means
Miscellanuos: Stigmata is a phenomena that happens to highly Christian people. Unexplainable wounds appear on hands, feet, the side of abdomen and forehead. In EoE, four Lances of Longinus went through Eva Unit 01 and created marks (Stigmata) in Shinji's hands.
